It makes alot of sense to say someone who deadlifts 500lbs needs more recovery time than someone who deadlifts only 200lbs...but the person who does the 500lbs has probably trained alot longer ... does the CNS adapt? or are the "HIT Jedi" on the right path?
I have a therory and so far it has worked out great for me. When I train for a power lifting meet I take less rest between sets to train under a certain amount of fatigue so that when the meet comes I am better conditioned and when I do get maximum amount of rest I am that much better.

Now that does not say I do a set then turn around and bust out another. When lifting heavy I generally take anywhere from 1 to 3 minuted rest and no more. I lifted with some guys that took more so I would do 2 sets to their one. My CNS has never suffered, only whne I don't get enough sleep.
