if its a true business related expense then its deductible. for instance, the computers used in the office can be written off over their useful life at equal increments per year.

my bro is remodeling his basement too... doin it himself; he estimated he would save like 2-3Gs tooo.. I can't wait til i have my own house and can do that stufff... renting sucks
