  • Ice Baths?

I was watching a Brock Lesnar training video the other day and he was talking about how great ice baths are for you. What are the benefits of ice baths? anybody know?

....the memory of ice baths makes me shudder. one too many times i had to dip my elbow/shoulder in them due to pitching in baseball.

imagine this, your elbows dipped in a tub full of freezing ass cold water.. while your hand is out of the water pointing up to the ceiling...

yea.. all that blood goes to the elbow, and it all goes numb..and took forever to get any feeling back towards my hand..

made the elbow/arm feel good though..prolly cos i couldnt feel it.. but yea, ya kno.. it worked god bless the trainers out there, lol.

i would guess its good for muscle relaxation.. but i also think ice cold water would cause an increase in lactic acid which would lead to more muscle soreness after the event?
im not too sure to be honest...

That's nothing. Pulled muscle in my lower back near my pelvis during Junior A hockey. If you think just dipping the elbow in there is bad, try 3/4 body submerssion. Needless to say, parts of the body don't respond well to frigid temps....
