Elaboration on White BLOOD
by RenegadeRows
Alot of bodybuilders love what's called the pump. This is the feeling of blood flowing to the muscles that makes the muscles feel full, bigger, pumped up. There are also certain products that will create an environment where the pump will be increased signifigantly. One such product is Controlled Lab's White BLOOD.
The backbone of White BLOOD includes 2 amino acids, Arginine and Ornithine. Arginine is synthesized from citrulline and plays an important role in cell division, the healing of wounds, removing ammonia from the body, immune function, and the release of hormones. It is a precursor of NO, which relaxes and dialates blood vessels. (1) This compound will not only create pumps, but will also shuttle nutrients through the blood more efficiently and is neseccary for the synthesis of creatine.
The next ingredient in White Blood is Ornithine, which acts as Arginine's partner in crime. In one double-blind, placebo-controlled study, a combination of 1 gram of arginine and 1 gram of ornithine daily, used in conjunction with a high-intensity strength-training program over a five-week period, increased total strength and lean body mass in adult males, compared with controls. (2) L-Arginine is naturally converted in the body to L-Ornithine by an enzyme called arginase. Both the arginine and ornithine in White BLOOD are in ethyl-ester form, which technically should improve absorbtion.
L-Ornithine is twice as potent as L-Arginine. Most people realize that teenagers can eat a great deal of food and not become obese, even if inactive. This is because of the growth hormone levels at their age. By taking L- Arginine and L-Ornithine, an individual may be able to resemble the growth hormone levels of a young adult or teenager.
The next compound we explore is the widely used L-Taurine, dosed 2000mg. Taurine has been shown in studies to lower blood pressure (3). It is one of the most abundant amino acids found in muscles and the central nervous system, and is thought to regulate muscle contractions, water balance and energy levels. There is also various feedback on Taurine alleviating depression. It is safe and has little to no side effects for most users. Taurine has shown the ability to lower muscle damage from intense exercise, and improve performance. (4)
Unfortunately, nitric oxide can produce unwanted free-radicals. Free radicals are atoms or groups of atoms with an odd (unpaired) number of electrons and can be formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules. Once formed these highly reactive radicals can start a chain reaction, like dominoes. Their chief danger comes from the damage they can do when they react with important cellular components such as DNA, or the cell membrane. Cells may function poorly or die if this occurs. To prevent free radical damage the body has a defense system of antioxidants.
White BLOOD has a wide variety of antioxidants to fight this. We will do a quick evaluation of each.
K-R-ALA
K-RALA is the stable potassium salt form of R-Lipoic Acid. Researchers believe that R-lipoic acid may be up to 8 times more active than Alpha-Lipoic Acid. Helps control blood sugar, Increases ATP levels, Functions as a powerful antioxidant against numerous typer of free radicals.
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is produced by the human body and is necessary for the basic functioning of cells. CoQ10 levels are reported to decrease with age and to be low in patients with some chronic diseases. CoQ10 is a little easier to appreciate when you remember that vitamins function as co-enzymes in the body, furthering thousands of essential biochemical reactions. CoQ10's key role is in producing adenosine triphosphate (ATP), needed for energy production in every cell of the body. Secondary to that, CoQ10 functions as a powerful antioxidant.
Lutein and zeaxanthin
Lutein and zeaxanthin are members of the carotenoid family — a group of natural plant pigments that also includes beta-carotene and lycopene. Most popularly known for protecting the eye from cataracts and Macular degeneration.
Folic Acid
Folic acid is a B vitamin. It is used in our bodies to make new cells.
Selenium
Selenium is a trace element that is essential in small amounts. It’s well known as a significant help in fighting cell-damaging free radicals in the body and in supporting a healthy immune system
Cryptoxanthin
Cryptoxanthin, also known as beta-cryptoxanthin, is a member of the carotenoid family, a group of flavonoids that provide color and flavor to fruits and vegetables. Carotenoids are proven antioxidants, and their role in protecting the body from free-radical damage has been well established.
Alpha-carotene
Alpha-carotene is part of the carotenoid family, and is one of the most abundant carotenoids in a healthy diet. Your body can convert alpha and beta-carotene into vitamin A for the maintenance of healthy skin and bones, good vision, and a robust immune system.
