  • Amino Acid calorie confusion --> Purple WrAAth

I've been taking Purple WrAAth for a while now (grape) and love it. I truly do feel quite a difference w/my endurance and recovery while using the product. One thing that always perplexed me about Amino Acid products is that they have 0 calories (such as Purple WrAAth), yet it has 10 or so grams of Amino Acids. Are those actually proteins lending 4 calories/gram or do Amino Acids have no calorie effect? Maybe this is more of the science type question, but nonetheless, all answers are appreciated!

    thanks!

I believe the reason that they aren't listed on any amino acid products as proteins (they are partial proteins technically) and as calories is due to the FDA. You should count them as 4 calories per gram, even though they aren't allowed to list them as such on the label. Hope that helps.

fda says aminos have no caloric value, so it must be listed this way. for nutrition purposes count it as 3-4 calories per gram
