Once you go projector, you'll never go back IMO

1) go to best buy and buy something from Sony or Yamaha...they have Klipsch speakers there too...not bad for your dollar.

plenty of power where you wouldn't need a separate amp, denon receivers have a smooth clean sound, and the functionality is perfect for home theaters. you can go higher end, but once you hear and see what this thing can do...why?

Polks sound amazing. Quality speakers from a quality company. With these bad boys you will probably want a dedicated amp. Check out the rest of the Polk line up if you want something that will sound perfect from just a receiver...check out their RTi12's.

make sure you voice match your speakers. so if you go with the LSi series, stick with that series for center and surrounds.

can't go wrong with a SVS sub.

Remember that THX is just a certification. It does not mean that if a product doesn't have those 3 letters on them that they don't stand up to George Lucas' standards, it just means that the company didn't see the reason to pay for the certification.

Also when choosing a receiver and speakers, you can't take anybody's word for it, you have to go hear the gear for yourself. I listened to about 3 dozen receivers before I found that I liked Denon the best. Speakers too, I listened to a ton of different brands and sizes before I made my decision. So go do your homework, you'll be much happier when you've brought home the stuff that sounds best to you.

Also, don't go cheap on the wiring. It really makes a difference. Stay away from Monster Cable, they are the Muscle Tech of the Home Theater industry.

I'll let somebody else put in the $.02 about the video stuff, I'm still learning about that myself. Good luck and have fun with this!

Bose are geniuses in the marketing department. They make good products that are functional in almost any household. But if you're looking for true sound quality, they are lacking. If you go and listen to them, pay attention to the high treble and the low bass. They don't compare to many other speakers out there. They'll fill a room with sound, that's for sure, but if you're going to drop that kind of coin, I'd want a higher quality sound.
