  • Day 53

    August 24, 2006

    weight: 203.6

My weight is dropping slightly, and it's the increase in cardio that's doing it ... as long as I stay above 200lbs I'll be happy ...

workout was sad this morning ..... not sure what happened, but got some pretty tight shoulder pain on my left when I was doing DB Shoulder Presses ... had to modify the workout a bit and focused on my rear delts a bit more .... I'm wondering if this is because the 5-day split that I've been doing has finally caught up to my recovery time ... been looking at some upper/lower splits and might change my routine when this is over to allow more days of rest between my pressing exercises

    DB Shoulder Press

    25's x 12 (warmup)
    50's x 10
    55's x 8 (pain started here)
    25's x 12

    Low Cable Side Laterals

    20 x 8/8
    20 x 8/8
    20 x 8/8

    Bent Over DB Laterals

    20's x 8
    20's x 8
    20's x 8

    Isolated Hammer Shoulder Press

(wanted to try a different angle and check my ROM)
    45 x 10/10
    55 x 10/10
(shoulder just felt tight on this ... not really painful)

    Standing Face Pulls

    60 x 12
    70 x 12
    80 x 12

    Behind Back Shrugs

    185 x 10
    195 x 15 (up 10lbs)
    195 x 15 (up 10lbs)
    195 x 15 (up 10lbs)

    • Day 54

      August 25, 2006

      weight: 203

the amount of weight I'm dropping has slowed down a bit .... I'm still impressed with the gains so far because my shoulders are much broader and my waistline looks like it's getting smaller ...

decided to break from the norm a bit with my routine today ... still did the same muscle group, but mixed up the exercises .... I'm working on a new upper/lower split that I plan to start the week after Labor Day and put in a couple of the exercises just to try them out ... supplementation was the same as usual, and the tub of GMag looks like it'll be empty sometime next week

      Quads / Triceps

      ATG Squats
      135 x 10 (warmup)
      185 x 8
      205 x 8
      215 x 6
(I've never gone lower than parallel in the past ... these felt really good)

      Alt BB Lunges
      115 x 6/6
      115 x 5/5
(quads were on fire from the ATG's ... maybe go lighter next time)

      Leg Extensions
      130 x 10
      130 x 10
      130 x 10

      Extreme Quad Stretch
      60 seconds
(I think I finally did these right, because I didn't want to walk after I was done ... quads were ripped apart .... felt awesome)

      Weighted Dips
      BW + 45 x 10
      BW + 45 x 8
      BW + 45 x 8
      BW + 45 x 11
(I can do more weight, but wanted to focus on form and slow contractions ... the last set was a burn out)

      CGBP (Smith)
      140 x 10
      140 x 8
      140 x 7
(anyone know what a smith bar weighs?)

      Overhead DB Extension
      80 x 8
      80 x 8
(left shoulder started to act up on last two reps, so I called it quits)

      Extreme Triceps Stretch
      25's x 60sec / 60sec
(think it's time to up the weight to 30's on these ... felt like I could have gone a little heavier today ... shoulder was OK during the stretch)

no kidding .... I was feeling a little soreness from yesterday's workout this morning ... mostly around my hip area ... wondering if that was from a combination of not enough warming up and doing ATG's for the first time

          • Day 55

            August 26, 2006

weight: 203.8 ... this is a good sign ... hopefully not dropping anymore

hips were sore from yesterday ... felt it as soon as I woke up ... I'm interpreting that as a good sign ... supplementation was the same as always ... and again I switched up some exercises as I get adjusted to the new routine that's approaching ... my deadlift weight was low, but I'm concentrating on getting my form down before I start increasing intensity and going for the heavy weights ... been almost 4 months since I've done deads

            Hams / Back

            Deadlifts
            135 x 12 (warmup)
            185 x 10
            205 x 10
225 x 9 (was really feeling the burn in the hams on this set)

            Iso Leg Curls
            80 x 10/10
            85 x 10/10
            85 x 8/8

            Extreme Hamstring Stretch
30-40sec / leg ... bar was level with my navel; usually it's a rung or two lower

            Wide Grip Pullups
            BW x 9
BW x 6 (static hold to faiulre on the last rep)
BW x 3 (static hold to failure on the last rep)

            V-bar Pulldowns
            120 x 8
            120 x 6
120 x 6 (static hold to failure on the last rep)

            Bench DB Row
            80 x 8/8
            80 x 8/8

I started getting a bad headache at this point and left the gym .... came home and it started to subside about half way through my post shake ... first time I've gotten a headache like that while working out ... doubt it had anything to do with the GMag, or any of my regular supplements for that matter

Possibly, I felt it there more too. I was also doing box squats like that with bands, was a total killer.

                August 27 & 28, 2006

Rest days!!! .... didn't weigh myself .... took it easy, kept calories in check, and just rested .... back and hams were feeling really worked from the workout a few days ago, so I felt taking some time off was needed ....dosage was 1/2 scoop of GMag in the morning, and took regular Blue Up and White Blood dosages

last day of the log ... ran out of GMag before my workout this morning ... I'll be posting a final review of the product with pictures, weight, measurements, etc... had a good workout this morning ... chest was still a little sore from yesterday, but was feeling good overall ... dosage was the same as usual

                    Biceps / Forearms / Abs

                    CG Preacher Curl
                    bar x 15 (warmup)
                    95 x 8
                    100 x 4
                    100 x 2

                    120 x 15
                    120 x 15
                    130 x 15

I had really good form on the preachers, which is why the reps were lower than usual ... burned me out doing those, but was happy to get 100lbs up as many times as I did

                    • Review

                      Summin' It All Up

Overall, I give CL's Green MAGnitude a stellar review .... taste is great, mixability is perfect (completely disolves), and it produces results. I've added GMag as a staple to my supplementation and can't wait to break into the next tub tomorrow morning.

If my bodyfat was less, there would have been some better vascularity. I noticed that I could see nearly every vein in my chest after press days trying to break through. Maybe after a cut I'll see it happen. Definitely saw a lot of it on my arms, where there isn't much fat. Pumps were good, and lasted for a while .... at least for me they did. The one thing I noticed is that my strength kept going up. Every week I was attacking the weights and breaking records from the week before. Only a few of my exercises plateaued (sp?) in weight by the end of this log, and most of those were shoulder exercises which I've been having some recent problems with.

I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a staple creatine product and would prefer powder over a pill. Here are the final numbers for me to post. I'll add final pictures later. Thanks again, Controlled Labs and I hope the readers of this log have found it useful in their decision to buy this product or not.
