  • Well I missed my favorite "Friday Night" lifting session due to a hose breaking on my Mustang while I was on the freeway... There is never a good time for this kinda shit to happen, but on a friday night, right before a leg day??? A leg day that I was going to video for the world to see no less??? Is this God seeing how far he can stretch my OCD??!! lol... Oh well, I'll survive... Hopefully my car can be fixed and I know the weights will still be heavy when the dust settles.. I usually take saturday's off, but I'll be in there tomorrow making up for this evening's missed workout... Life Happens... It's all about how we choose to deal with it... I say that and I'll be a optimistic as I can until I get the bill for my car.. haha...

    • I was sluggish all day today... Legs are still sore and just add the chest & calves to the list.... I think all this soreness contributed... but you know what wasn't sore? My back and my abs... that said, I had work to do and had to make it count as I am going into a rest day tomorrow.. And make it count I did... After getting a late second wind at the perfect time, I killed the back!! Super sets, pull ups, rows, the works! There is nothing better than a back pump!
      As for the ol abs, I got them good, but now that I'm no longer dieting, I have lost some definition in the mid section... As a bodybuilder, this is part of the process and I have to accept that... I guess they're still showing enough for summer... I'll live...

      • This evenings workout was really good! Traps, Delts and Calves... I was pretty wasted after my shoulder training and wanted to leave... then I looked down at my calves and realized that I was not leaving the building until they were torn apart! All in all, a great day at the office!

        Following my workout I received some sad news as someone close to me had lost a family member... It's tough, there is nothing worse than feeling so helpless when someone is hurting.. It would be so much easier if you could just flip a switch and make things better... I can relate as I lost my Grandmother in March... She remains in my thoughts and dreams, I think about her all the time... It's never easy losing someone dear to us and when these things happen, it always gives me a reevaluation on things.. Not to EVER take anything or anyone for granted, because you never know when things will change, people will pass on and you're forced to deal with the hardship of moving on , regardless of if you're ready or not... Enjoy every moment life offers you! (Thoughts and Prayers)...

        • Arms today... Supersets, lots of them... I was able to navigate through the place pretty quick as the gym was pretty slow... One of those nights when your headphones are blasting, head down and you just take it all out of the weights... I was quite satisfied with my output this evening and I'm already looking forward to Leg Day tomorrow... I've always said, if you want to properly prep for leg day, you need to start psyching yourself out the night before... That way, by the time you get there, you are mentally and physically ready for battle!

          • Wow.. What a crazy weekend! And to think there is still one more day to enjoy!
            Starting friday night, I got at them wheels with an exhilarating leg day... Front Squats, Hack Squats, Dead Lifts, Leg Extensions and Curls...Yeah.. It's Sunday and they still hurt like hell..
            Saturday I just couldn't hold back, it was a scheduled rest day but I felt the need to train the calves and abs... Much needed!
            Today I Trained the ol Chest! Started with a great pre exhaust, then went right to the heavy stuff.. Decline Bench, Incline Bench, Incline Fly's, Cable Fly's, Peck Deck... Let's just say swinging a golf club today was a struggle after all of this craziness on the body... but this is what I do!!

            • Today was one of those days where I just simply abused the weights! Or maybe it was my body that got abused in the end... I trained Traps, Delts and Calves... I have never consistently hit so many supersets as much as I have in the past few weeks... It's been taxing, but it's been fulfilling at he same time.. I love digging deep and finding out what I'm truly capable of mentally and physically... I topped out on shrugs at 485lbs for 8 reps, and then played with the 145lb dumbbells for 4 sets of 15 reps... Dumbbell Press, followed by a nasty front and lateral dumbbell extension, reverse cable extension and pull ups to failure... Just when I thought I was out of gas, I remembered that I still have to beat the hell out of my calves... I performed a taxing triset of seated, donkey and standing calf raises... It hurt, but it was worth every second as these calves need to grow! All in all it was a great workout, hope to have many more just like it!

              • Last night I trained Arms and had it documented... I will post the video as soon as it's done editing.. It should be good! I'm very excited to see it given the new editor I'm working with... I know that my next video was supposed to be a leg day, but I'm hoping this video will help me gain more exposure on the Simply Shredded website and I want to show my strengths... Don't worry, a leg day vid will be coming soon enough!
                After my filming sessions I got a great nights rest and although today isn't a training day of mine, I headed down to one of our parks here in Boise to run some some stairs.. First time of the year and it was pretty brutal! I am very sore and would neglect to call today an off day by any means... It's all good cuz I'm gonna go to sushi tonight and wipe the place out! This kid's gotta fill back up! Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! Remember, one night of going out drinking erases three GREAT workouts that you had... food for thought...

                • I took the day off from the gym today as I had a Chiropractic appt today... Always a nice relief on the ol body... I have always been told that there are two must haves if you're going to be a competitive bodybuilder... A Massage Therapist and a Chiropractor... I believe these words! My body has been taking a beating lately and these folks make sure that the wheels keep turning... After my "tune up" today, I'm due to kill the weights tomorrow! I don't like rest days, but I respect and understand them...

                  • Having a short week is causing me to consolidate my lifts... Today was Traps, Delts and Back.... I'm glad I took yesterday off as I thrashed it today! Once again, very little rest in between sets, hi volume and heavy weights.. BOOM!!
                    Today was thinking about why I have not gotten complacent in the gym after training for all of these years and why I have not yet gotten burnt out... I see so many fall off the wagon and fade out.. Why has this not happened to me? Why do I keep coming back for more, day in and day out? Ultimately, I really don't know what I would do if I didn't have this lifestyle.. I would be completely lost, bored, depressed, demoralized and defeated if I didn't have this to look forward to every day... I wish more people felt the same way that I do about this way of living... I don't look at it as an obsession in anyway.. I look at it as a chance to do and be something different... I guess I keep coming back for more because I have to, because if I didn't, I would be lost... Well I'm not lost, I'm slowly getting bigger, more ripped and better at my craft every day....

                    • I had a great arm workout this evening as well as another trashing on the calves... I performed a mean drop set on the ol biceps tonight and have a feeling it's gonna be tough to write, type, drive etc... I'm loving how everything feels right now, no injuries, no joint pain and no worries... Just heavy weights and high volume... Light Weight!!

                      • I'm taking today and tomorrow off as this last weekends workouts coupled with a golf tournament and the Bodybuilding.com Boise Fit Expo where quite a load on my body... I can't lie... I'm pretty tired... I don't like being out of the gym, but sometimes you have to be logical and let things heal up, clear your mind and go back into the building with a vengeance.... I feel very fortunate as I rarely have bad training sessions, but that can come with a price... pushing your body to its limits day in and day out can have its drawbacks.. I'm going to be switching up some things as far as my nutrition, supplementation and training for the summer... Looking forward to these changes... gotta shock the body!

                        • Ok, so I couldn't help myself... I went back into the gym tonight for what turned into an awesome shoulder workout.. Not quite sure where the strength came from but I was moving around some serious weight tonight! 500 lbs for reps on shrugs, 80's with ease (no spot) on dumbbell press, fly's with 40's also came with ease.. Part the way through, I had a guys come up and challenge me, saying that I would only get 6 reps on dumbbell lateral raises... I smashed out 12, 8 to prove my point and 4 more just for spite... He said, "ok, I stand corrected, you are a stud"... I replied, "thanks"... Gonna be sore tomorrow but wouldn't have it any other way... Cheers to smashin them weights and makin them gainz!!

                          • I snuck into the gym today for some Calves and Abs... I find it difficult to train Abs when I'm not getting ready for a show as I'm not as cut up as I would normally be before a contest.. Nonetheless, I still train them and I train them hard.. Wind shields, cable crunches, machine crunches and hanging leg raises... I will be needing them to come back some day... I want more depth and there is only one way to get it... Arms tomorrow and Legs Friday... the best is yet to come!

                            • Great weekend! And Happy Father's Day! I was able to kick back and watch the US Open with my old man today it was great. We went through some bodybuilding pics from this spring and he insisted that if I am to be successful, I need to gain more wait... He said "25lbs and you'll be unstoppable"... Well, that won't come easy, but you bet your sweet ass I'm gonna keep grinding until I am unbeatable! I have a great amount of respect from my Dad and compliments do NOT come easy.. Even shows that I have won in the past, he has critiqued me on mistakes that I made.. I think that's what I love about the guy, I work so much harder knowing that when the day comes that he pats me on the back, it will have been earned...
                              Finished shooting on Friday night and I can't wait to see the finished product.. I followed up the shoot with a country thrashing on the wheels, then stadium stars on saturday in the 90 degree heat and finished the weekend with a GREAT chest workout... What more can you really ask for! Everything is running on all cylinders right now and smooth as silk... I would love to find something to complain about, but I can't... Everything is on point!

                              • Back day! The attack of the alter ego.. the Mr Hyde side of Darren Conroy comes out on back day... Every one has to have that one area where they just move stupid amounts of weight, my back is mine... Four of the five lifts that I tackled today I maxed out the machines I was using (Hammer Strength Row, Lat Pull Down, Cable Seated Row and the Reverse Peck Deck)... Straight up angry on the weights tonight... That's how muscles are grown, that's how champions are made!
