  • Yesterday and Today I had great outings back to the grind... Shoulders yesterday and Arms today... Going into my last show for the spring I am trying some high volume training as I know that I'm not going to grow much over the next few weeks.. I'm hoping to shock my body a little bit and maintain good cuts and fullness for the last show... I am looking forward to smashing the wheels tomorrow and then a much needed rest day Thursday... I'm already getting excited about what I'm prepared to do to the wheels!! The first show was ok, the second show was much better and I'm hoping that the third show is the fairytale ending that I'm looking for... I will be competing against the guy that beat me in the first show... I'm looking forward to that rematch VERY much...

    • After a well deserved rest day I went back into my temple for what turned out to be a "lights out" chest and back workout... I love going into the gym with no limits! Just always something in the air on that Friday night lifting session... I even saved a little for some posing after it was all done... Damn I wish I could go on stage with the pump I had on my chest this evening, the carbs I had today were good to me! I'm so grateful for the ability to do this day in and day out.. I am addicted to this lifestyle, I wouldn't trade it for anything.. I feel amazing, I almost look amazing (still working on that part)... But all joking aside, I feel on point physically, mentally and emotionally... From a competitive standpoint, the first show just got me fired up, I got my head right in the second show and I plan on delivering the BOOM in the last one!

      • Today was just one of those days where I needed the gym to get rid of some stress... I guess even guys like me that are happy go lucky 99% of the time, sometimes have to face that 1% every now and then... I get extremely frustrated when life gets stressful during my competition season as I feel that everything must be perfect in order to show well on stage.. Clearly we don't get to choose when life happens, when work, family matters or ended friendships happen... This is all part of the learning experience called LIFE... And yes, sometimes life leaves you scratching your head and wondering what the heck happened... When presented with life's obstacles, you will come to a fork in the road and can either let these stresses consume you, or you can choose to persevere... Me, I will choose to kick these obstacles in the face! I will make the choice to be the better man as my values are too strong, as my heart, pride, integrity and character are far too important to me to ever show signs of weakness... Never settle! Never let anyone walk over you! Stand up for yourself, stand up for what you believe in! Be better than those that try to drag you down.. The only reason that people will ever try to drag you down is because you are above them and they are jealous, gutless, haters... Be strong, outlast, outwork, out hustle... Prevail!!

        • Yesterday was a great day in the gym (hamstrings, calves and abs) and in addition, got to do something that I've never done.. A friend had requested my assistance as he was conducting a presentation on bodybuilding needing someone to demonstrate the mandatory poses... It was a great experience for me and gave me an opportunity to meet new people as well as answer questions in several arenas...
          Today was a great resting day for me and I enjoyed some sushi with a good friend this evening whom will be competing in the same show that I am in a week.. Should be a great experience for both of us... Now it's off to bed for my much needed 8... Chest and Back tomorrow!!

          • Love the usual Friday night lift! Smashed the chest and back, once again hitting high volume... sets of 18, 15, 12, 12 on just about every lift... I feel that this approach will only help my windedness on stage... I also had a great posing session this evening, leaving a sweat puddle on the floor in the aerobics room... The sushi I had yesterday was kind to me as veins were popping! As I lay here this evening, I feel wrecked, but for all the right reasons... So many people have been so nice and so supportive, I couldn't ask for more! In addition to my contest prep, I'm looking forward to an opportunity to speak at an event on Tuesday evening... It's funny how I can get in front of a packed house and flex with next to nothing on, but I still get a little nervous speaking to large groups of people... Opportunities like these still mean a lot.. It's so nice to know that there are folks out there that are inspired by me... I'll keep doing everything I can to help as many as I can! Looking forward to Tuesday!

            • Some extra carbs fueled an awesome arm day! Pump, veins, striations, GAINS!! Love them gains!! I was asked today if I was excited about the upcoming show, I simply replied, "I'm not excited, I'm prepared.." I am slightly nervous for the mere fact that I know I may have a crack at a potential pro card, something that I want more than ANYTHING! Words won't describe how beside myself I'll be if I can win the most lustrous award in the states biggest bodybuilding show ever! I guess we'll find out in 4 days...
              This evening I had the chance to speak at a special event as an inspirational guest of honor and it was great! It's always great having the opportunity to let folks know where I came from as well as the chance to convince others that if I can do it, they can too... I hope that I was able to motivate everyone there and as soon as video of the event is available, I'll post it on here for all to see... Life is just great sometimes... Certainly enjoying the moment..

              • Today was fairly low key, just a light circuit followed be 4 sets of quarter turns.... I felt good and comfortable with my posing... I think that all of this practice will hopefully pay dividends... I have been practicing posing 3 to 4 days a week for the last 6 weeks and at this point, everything should just lock into place... I hope that if I have a B+ physique, that with presentation I can take it up to a solid A, where as someone with an A- physique that might not have the best presentation, this drops them down to a B... I guess ultimately all in the hands of the 7 sitting in the front row... I can only be as good as I can be... I will continue to eat right, work hard, sleep, practice and hope for the best...

                • I followed up a great Chest workout yesterday with an absolute thrashing on the Back today... This new split is gonna be good to me! I haven't had a pump like this for a while.. It was as if someone put a giant turtle shell on my back... I never would have thought... lol...
                  Dumbbell Rows all the way up to the 130's.. Maxed out the Seated Row and the Lat Pull Down... Big weights, Big Gains and Big Dreams!!! He's back and he's hungry! #whatoffseason?

                  • Damn it feels good to be back in the game! Traps, Delts and Calves today... In addition to this crazy split with rep ranges from 6 to 15 reps, I'm also making every effort to jump into my sets faster.. I actually thought I would be weaker on my lifts, but it was almost the exact opposite! I found that my lifts, strength, pump and endurance was right on point... I did sweat my ass off, I guess it was good for the ol ticker.. I know that a lot of times when folks get done with competitions, they often feel that there is nothing to train for, the fact of the matter is, competitors usually get on stage again... That said, the clock starts ticking right when you step off the stage and enjoy the cheat meal... I have hopped right back on the train in lieu of the next show, there is no off season, not if you want to win.. I want to be a champion... I want to be feared by fellow competitors.. I want people to know that if they are going to beat me that they will have go give it everything they've got!

                    • Tonight I tackled Arms and Abs... My first go round with the White Flood Reborn and I will say that it was a huge success! I wasn't walking around stimmed out of my mind... Just enough to give me a little pop and I took it from there... This stuff tastes amazing and the effects were awesome! Focus, pump, endurance, you name it! Tonights workout was lights out! This kid's arms are going to be trashed tomorrow... Still loving the new split and gearing up for a war on the wheels tomorrow!

                      • What a great weekend in Boise! Warm weather is finally here!
                        I kicked my weekend off with a Friday Night Thrashing of the legs! Simply an all out massacre of the wheels that left me hobbling out of the building and allowed me one of the best nights of sleep that I've got in quite some time... I only hope that I can have more lifts like that one.. today, my legs are fairly sore, but almost in shock from what I had done to them, I only expect them to be more sore Sunday... I took today off from the gym and tied up as many loose ends as I could.. We can only neglect house and yard work for so long I guess... I had a great dinner with a group of friends where I even downed a large glass of milk and an ice cream sunday after my steak... Time for another good nights rest and some Chest and Calves tomorrow... Goodnight world!

                        • Back and Abs this afternoon... I was able to get through my lift pretty quick with little rest time in between sets... Lately I've been pretty amazed at how I've still maintained my strength even when jumping back into my sets faster... I really think that's a mental block that can be overcome.. In addition I maxed out two of the five back machines that I trained on tonight... Although I rarely give a shit about how much weight I'm moving, it's always a good little ego boost when you max out a machine while maintaining good form...
                          Lately things have been great for me, my body feels great, I'm very satisfied with my progress and I keep having great opportunities fall in my lap... If I had any advice to everyone, it would be to not get caught up on the small, aim to conquer the big, be realistic and most importantly do what makes you HAPPY! Good things happen to good people and busting your ass won't hurt your chances of getting what you want... Keep on that grind!

                          • Today is a rest day for me... Funny how sometimes the stressful days you have seem to land on your rest days... Today had it's share of stresses and although I would have loved to take it all out on the weights, I made the wise decision to let my body heal instead... My heart has always been bigger than my brain, but today logic held strong...
                            Unfortunately not every day can go exactly as planned and we have to do our best to prepare for change... the hard part is never knowing when things change, people change, life changes... I always do my best to remain a positive person as the world is so often filled with negativity.... But when people you confide in, that you've been there for, that you have always trusted turn their back on you, it can be a tough pill to swallow... I guess it's ultimately part of life and you can choose to attack it however you see fit... Me, I will choose to remain positive, to be the better person... I don't hold grudges, I don't blame people for making bad decisions, I can only hope that they may realize one day that maybe they could have looked at things through a different light... that they learn that sometimes ignorance will have a lasting effect on those around them and that one day those willing to help, might not be there when they are in a time of need... I can only hope that one day, the'll see the big picture... Life is short, do what makes you happy...

                            • Back in the mix! Traps, Delts and Calves... I hit the weights hard today! great go round at the gym, especially on the ol calves.. I was quite satisfied with every aspect of my workout and the cutting back on the rest is getting better! I love it when things come together... I was fearing that I might be getting burnt out and overdoing it, nope, instead I'm right back in the mix where I belong... Getting bigger, better and stronger!

                              • Tonight's arm day was amazing! not sure what the hell I drank before my workout (oh yeah, it was White Flood Reborn), but I was on one tonight! I got a great pump on both the bi's and the tri's... one of those pumps when you can't touch your shoulders or anything for that matter... all the right songs playing on the ipod and just enough of the right people in the gym to keep me motivated.... My strength on arm day is starting to scare me a bit, but I'm gonna ride with it... there is no reason to let my mind restrict what my body is truly capable of...
                                I have decided that I will be competing this fall and my summer will be fun, but will be somewhat restricted to adhere to a rigorous training schedule... Gonna get crazy with them weights! Love the lights, love the stage, love the crowd, wouldn't trade this sport for anything!
