    The chicks are 2.5 weeks old and the grown hens are a year old.

    Chickenomics

    16 free range hens ~ 13 eggs a day
    chicken feed - 2 bags every 3 weeks - $32
    Water from well = $0

    3 weeks of eggs = 22.75 dozen
    price per dozen ~ $1.40

    16 meat chickens (market weight at 7 weeks)
    cost of chicks: $2.50ea
    total purchace price = $37.50 (bought 15, 1 was free)
    chicken feed - 3 bags total = $48
    water from well = $0
    enclosure = $0 (used boxes to create 48in X 48in)
    electricity for heat lamp = not sure
    total = $85.50

    Estimated weight at slaughter = 64 lbs
    Estimated price per pound = $1.33

    Date of slaughter will be November 19th. We will see of projected chickenomics works as predicted.
