  • Weight loss help needed!

Hi, for several weeks, maybe a month and a half now, I've been going to the gym for a good 2 hours a day, about 5 days a week. I have also read about the paul mckenna weight loss programme and I am trying to apply those rules to my lifestyle. For those who do not know, they are

    1/ When you're hungry, eat
    2/ Eat what you want
    3/ Eat consciously

    and

    4/ stop when full

I have been applying them quite well and in the first 2 weeks noticed quite big differences in the size of my stomach. However sometimes i find i have really bad days when i return to my old eating habits of just eating for no reason and not being able to stop myself. On good days it means that i actually don't eat much at all, often skipping a meal because im not even hungry for it. It is not this that i have the problem with, but how to stop myself on the bad days, and how these bad days have an effect on my overall weight loss. Presently, I feel like my stomach has actually got bigger not smaller and I'd really like some help in what i'm doing wrong! and how i can improve what i am doing. I'd say in a period of 2 weeks i'd have 3 bad days, 4 average and the rest good.

    please help!

    Thanks

Even though your "diet" has some benefits and a few good common sense parts to it, it's not really addressing some major factors that you should consider.

    1. Eat healthy. If you are putting junk into your body whether it is a lesser amount than what you are used to, the bottom line is that it is still junk and your body will respond as such. An example would be an old eating habit of mine. Every Friday on the way home from work, I pulled in McDonald's and would get two double cheeseburgers, large fries, large soda. That was way too much food for me, plus it was junk nasty food. If I applied the diet you are talking about, I would still eat McDonald's, just order one double cheeseburger, medium fry, medium soda. Do you think I would lose weight???? Would my good cholesterol be in the healthy range? Would my bad cholesterol be in the healthy range? How high would my trigycerides be? Junk in = Junk out

    2. Eat more, not less. I eat 5 to 6 times a day. You don't want to go until you "feel hungry." When your body says you are hungry, it begins to store fat, not burn it. Your metabolism shuts down. Your metabolism is like a train engine. They just don't shovel a bunch of coal into it once and sit back and relax until the coal is all gone, they are constantly adding coal to keep the train running at peak. You should treat your body the same way.

    3. Stay away from sugar, white carbs (such as potatoes, rice, pasta, bread.) These make you fat. If you are serious about losing weight, this is a must. After you achieve the weight/fat loss goal you want, you can slowly and with moderation add some of these back into your diet. The more active you are (cardio wise) the more white carbs you can afford to add.

This is basically the South Beach Diet. It was recommended to me by my doctor. I used to be a lazy fat ass. On my 33 birthday, I was put on blood pressure and cholesterol medication. This was the day I said I am tired of being a lazy fat ass and don't want to have to take these meds and I don't want to die a young man. I got on the SB diet and got my ass in the gym and hired a personal trainer. I went from a fat ass to a bad ass. I lost 57 lbs and went from a snug 38 waist to a 32 waist. My bodyfat is 11.5%. I have been this size for almost two years now. I haven't gained the weight back because I continue to eat right and exercise.

I don't know if this helps you or not, but I wish you the best of luck.

Ive never heard of the Paul Mckenna diet but if its what you described, its horrible. Everything iceman said I agree with but I wouldnt take out fast digesting(or white carbs) totally. Right after your workout, you need to have at least 20g of fast carbs to spike your insulin for muscle growth. Your body wont store them as bodyfat since it is using that energy.

I agree, but what I was referring to was in the beginning (considered Phase 1 in SB Diet) is when you completely cut out white carbs. You re-introduce them later in the other phases. You do this to speed up the fat loss, since fat is the body second source of fuel and you have eliminated the effective carbs.

Well, nice and useful post. Sleeping is a best trick to lose weight because it is one of the easiest. It is essential to your weight loss plan total. Medical research has shown to induce sleep deprivation hunger and improve appetite. This often results in overeating. Similarly, get enough sleep to be at least eight hours can make a balanced level of leptin and help you lose weight.
