    new here but i ordered the "hardcore fat burning stack' consisting of red acid, green bulge and glycer grow.
    this journal is not going to start until monday but i wanted to get all the initial stuff out of the way. background on myself, i am a 26 yr old who has been athletic all my life. in high school i was a 3 year letterman in football, and did track(track and field events). began lifting during high school, but didnt really have a clue of what routines to foolow or whatever, just did what coach said. kept with it 1 1/2 years after graduating, then met my wife(girlfriend at the time) and well the rest is kinda history. throughout our courtship i put the gym on the back burner and gained some unwanted lbs. balloned up to around 225, keep in mind i am 5'8", i felt like crap. i then had to put the law down and told my wife "look, i am not used to this. i am going back to the gym" found this website and just kinda floated around, reading posts and trying to gain knowledge. eventually i got down to 195 and felt great, abs showing, lean all over. then the wife and i were expecting a child.....all though it was with no doubt the happiest day of my life, i was once again on the heavy side, 220 lbs. this time. so now here i am at 205, finally got a screen name, did a "get back into it log" for a week and starting on monday i am going to be implementing a new routine. i am going to be resistance training 4 days out of the week and doing cardio 5-6 days. i will be following a modified carb cycle with just the low and high days. low being around the 1500-1800 calorie range and high days closer to the 3000 calorie range. training will be as follows:

    mon/ thurs- chest/ back/ legs

    flat db press- 5 sets @ 15, 12, 8, 8, 10
    incline db press- 3 sets @ 8, 8, 8
    incline db flye- 3 sets @ 10, 10, 10
    cable crossover- 3 sets @ 12, 12, 15
    dips- 2 sets to failure
    lat pulldown- 4 sets @ 15, 8, 10, 10
    seated cable row- 3 sets @ 10, 10, 10
    low pulley bent over row supersetted with straight arm cable pulldown 3 sets @10
    back extensions- 3 sets @ 15, 15, 12
    leg press- 5 sets @ 15, 12, 12, 12, 10
    hack squats- 3 sets @ 15, 10, 10
    lunges- 3 sets @ 10, 10, 10
    leg extensions- 3 sets @ 10, 10, 10

    tue/ fri- shoulders and arms:

    seated front bb press- 5 sets @ 15, 12, 10, 10, 8
    machine press- 3 sets @ 10, 10, 12
    bentover lat raise- 3 sets @ 10, 10, 12
    seated db lat raise- 3 sets @ 10, 10, 12
    front cable raise- 3 sets @ 10, 10, 10
    standing cable curl- 3 sets @ 15, 12, 12
    alt. db curl- 3 sets @ 12, 12, 15
    machine preacher curl- 3 sets @ 12, 12, 12
    concentration curl- 3 sets @ 10, 10, 8
    close grip bench press- 3 sets @ 15, 10, 10
    seated rope overhead ext.- 3 sets @ 10, 10, 10
    reverse grip pressdown- 3 sets @ 12, 10, 12
    cable kickbacks- 2 sets @ 12, 15

    supplements i will be taking throught the duration of this plan will be:

    green bulge
    glycergrow
    red acid
    ctyosport complete whey
    universal animal pak
    now omega 3-6-9

    diet is gonna be

    low days
    1500-1800 total calories
    20% carbs
    50% protein
    30% fat

    high days
    3000 total calories
    55% carbs
    35% protein
    10% fat.

    overall my goal is to get down to around 175-180 lbs. stay tuned...oh yea i will post pics later..

    Hey scott! Welcome to CL! Great work on starting the new log!

    I'm sure the boys will chime in to give you some good advice!

    What stuck out to me however are your low days at 1500 cals... you probably need a bit more than that? How are you liking this modified carb cycling approach ?

      actually the diet or the training has not begun as of yet, not set to start until tomorrow, although i did feel total calories on the low days were abit too low..that is one of the reasons i posted so that i would get some input as to whether i should up them a bit...now keep in mind i am trying to drop some weight. i will post some pics, the following are when i was right around 200 lbs, right now i am about 8-10 lbs. heavier..http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...3/100_0533.jpg

      i have changed more in the gut area than in the chest or arms, leg shots will follow shortly. goal weight is 180 lbs. shredded

        Well I am all for slow steady changes, what cal level are you taking in now? I'm pretty concerned since I am half your weight and eat more than that, even on my off days.

        Your pictures look like you have gained some good muscle mass!!! Well done!
        But we wouldn't want such a drastic cal drop to lose it all right..?! I'm thinking you cal/carb cycling should occur, but with less fluctuation on a daily basis. Just my thoughts....

          would you suggest maybe taking in 2400 on the lower days....or should i do a more traditional carb cycle and implement a no carb day, with that one being in the 1900-2100 calorie range?

          and no, i would not want to too drastically lose weight cause i would end up losing quit a bit of muscle in doing so.

                thanks for the compliment. and yea 175-180 is my long term goal, closer to 180, and yea shredded, not competition shredded as i have no intentions on competing.

                      Definitely eat as much as you can whilst allowing yourself to lose a small amount of poundage per week.

                      Just make sure the cal changes are gradually lowered from what they are now.
                      Your low carb days are already pretty low, maybe you can save the no carb day for later if you get stuck at a plataeu.

                        this will be the diet plan i will follow for my journal:
                        mon & thur will be high carb days:
                        2800 total calories being 45c/40p/15f
                        totals for the day will be- 315/280/46

                        tue/ fri / sun will be lo carb days:
                        2300 total calories being 30c/45p/25f
                        totals for the day will be- 172/258/63

                        wed & sat will be no carb days:
                        2300 total calories being 15c/45p/40f
                        totals for the day will be- 86/258/102

                        #'s following the total calories are in %

                        carbs will be of the following:
                        yams, oatmeal, 100% whole wheat bread

                        protein will be from:
                        chicken, tuna, talapia

                        fats from:
                        flax oil, fish oil, natural peanut butter, walnuts, cashews

                        veggies will be of the fiberous greens:
                        broccoli, spinach

                          day 1- morning cardio

                          DAY 1-MORNING CARDIO

                          ran on the treadmill for 30 minutes completing my 3.0 miles, then went onto do some abs crunches- 2 sets of 25, obliques- 2 sets of 20 (per side), after doing abs i did the stair climber for 10 minutes as a cool down at a rate of 60 steps per minute. good sweat early in the morning, right now i am sippin' on the protein shake and eating oats. i am going to push weight this evening around 5 or 6 so i will post the #'s then. peace..

                              overall the workout went good, had enough energy to get through. took my white blood and green bulge 45 minutes pre workout, red acid and animal pak 15 minutes later and glycergrow on the way to (2 scoops per initial dosage) the gym. took in 215 grams protein, around 260-285 grams of carbs, 70 grams of fat...so i didnt really hit all my numbers but i will. water intake was 2.5 gallons, so i was well hydrated throughout the day.
