  • Training split question

So my split basically looks like this:

    mon: quads/calfs
    tues: chest
    wed: back/traps/hams
    thurs: off
    fri: arms
    sat: shoulders
    sun: off

do you guys think doing shoulder work the day after arms (triceps) is a bad idea, or counterproductive? any input is appreciated, thanks.

I think that is fine. Have you not been getting results with it?

When I do my 1 body poart a day routine I train shoulders the day after arms and it has been just fine. The only thing is that if my tris are exausted I jsut could not go as heavy on the pressing move ments as I would like to have gone.

No, it hasnt been long enough to say I haven't gotten any results with it, but I was just curious and wanted to be sure. Thanks for the input.

Looks fine to me. I like separating my shoulders from other push/pull days to minimize injury or overworking.

Personally (and without changing volume) I would go with something like this:

            mon: chest / back
            tues: legs / abs
            wed: off
            thurs: arms
            fri: shoulders / traps
            sat: off
            sun: arms
            or

            mon: chest
            tues: off
            wed: legs / abs
            thurs: off
            fri: shoulders / traps
            sat: off
            sun: arms / back
It's worth noting however, that I generally recommend hitting each major muscle group twice a week... especially when supplements are part of the scenario (after all, at the end of the day most supplements boil down to one simple concept... enhancing recovery either directly or indirectly).

Well either way, I obviously need to wait until after my BH log before changing anything. Could you also give an example of a good split in which muscle groups are hit twice a week?

Since there are 3 off days you technically could throw in a arm workout on one of those days, BUT with that routine you are hitting them indirectly 2 x weekly which should be plenty.
