  • 5x5 or WS4SB

Right now my main goal is to gain strength on the 3 big lifts. Which routine do you think would fit my needs better.....5x5 or Defranco's ws4sb ?

How much experience do you have lifting?

I'm in my second 'cycle' of 5x5. Just about to finish week 2. During my first attempt at 5x5 my weight went up about 10lbs and my lifts skyrocketed. Most notably my deadlift went from about 255 to 315 This was over a period of 9 weeks.

That's what I was thinking. Especially if the original poster is concerned about increasing his Big 3. 5x5 is built around increasing those lifts, so I think it would be perfect for him

At the risk of sounding ignorant, can someone please give some more detail on the 5x5 program -- I see it mentioned a lot, but I am not familiar with the details of it.

What do you think about a push, pull, leg with 5x5. I'm looking for hypertrophy. I went to break 200 by September.

I was thinking Frankie's NY MAss builing routine.

You can/will definitely gain size while doing this program. IF...you eat above maintenance. I was bulking while I ran it the first time on about 3800 calories and went from 178lbs to 190lbs. Not much fat gain either.

totally agree - most lifters (me included) allways want to add more volume or change shit around.

5x5 works great - stick to it and train hard and u will get results.

i do mine to a T, however i do wide grip chins after most core workout - ebcause i feel lat width is what i need work on most.

Me too. I add these to my Wednesday workout, right after deads

Seems to be working well, I don't think my other lifts have suffered at all.
